CADC provides opportunities for individuals and families to improve their lives substantially, through programs and services that encourage the development of self-reliant lives. Those opportunities include:

Commodity Food Distribution
Communities can invest in building their resources through the USDA Commodity Food Program, in which thousands of pounds of food are distributed, moving communities forward in eliminating hunger.

Community Training and Technical Assistance

Community Training and Technical Assistance
Individuals can invest themselves and their resources in efforts to build the assets and capacities of their communities. Asset-based community development is emphasized, along with training and technical assistance that ranges from strategic planning, mapping, resource development, to leadership training for communities.

Economic Literacy
Economic literary provides the foundation for saving and investing wisely. It is the basis for the responsible use of credit and money and for making informed financial decisions that can affect your family and your future. CADC offers economic literacy training to help individuals broaden their financial planning and management skills. We believe that economic literacy is the first step toward individuals and entrepreneurs becoming successful in starting and owning a business. CADC offers educational information on topics from building a financial safety net to planning for your idea of a comfortable retirement. You will find tips on: reducing debt, saving money, allocating your assets, and planning for the unexpected. Everyday activities can expose you to financial losses. The first step to begin managing those risks is to identify the risk exposures and the losses they can cause. By developing a Personal Spending and Savings Plan, you will determine and then chek how money is being spent. A Personal Spending and Savings Plan is a useful tool to use on your path to success.

CADC focuses is on connecting individuals with the tools and resources needed to become self-sufficient. This may be accomplished through short and long term goal setting. Family Development specialists assist individuals and families with achieving their plans for success.

Head Start
The Head Start Program Impacts the Lives of Both Children and Adults
Head Start
Families can achieve success through Head Start, a primary source of comprehensive family intervention for three-to-five year olds and their families. While children receive education, health, dental, mental health, social and nutritional services, parents and caregivers are empowered to self-sufficiency through participation in parent support groups.

Home Energy Assistance
Thousands of households benefit from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, a vital link to short-term help for families needing fuel assistance for the high costs of heating and cooling.

Housing
CADC's Local Offices Provide Information About Services For You
Housing
Housing Services gives low-income families the opportunity to access decent and safe housing and to build stronger communities through programs build sustainable lifestyles for the residents of Arkansas.

IDA Program
IDA's are matched savings accounts that encourage low-income working people to save money and acquire assests. Through IDA's, individuals can purchase their first home, attend college or job training, or start or expand a small business. Most applicants will be enrolled in the program for six months to two years. Participants commit to saving at least $10 a month. When they reach their saving goal, CADC will match the savings 3:1 to purchase the asset. Yes! For every dollar saved, CADC will match it with $3.00--up to $2,000 per individual, or $4,000 per household. Participants will have a Family Development Specialist to work with them throughout their training process to help keep them on track and guide them through difficult times. The Family Development Specialist will assist them with their goal setting and savings. For more information on the IDA program call the local office.

MicroEnterprise Development
This initiative helps make credit accessible to the low-income through a combination of education, training, mentoring and resource development. Economic Literacy classes gives persons in all areas the tools needed to get out of debt and to build sound financial futures. Pre-Business Classes helps individuals develop plans to become entrepreneurs in their communities.

Saline County's One Stop Shop Offers Accessibility and Service
Nutrition
Nutrition Education enhances the nutritional status of children, adults and communities through access to hot, home-delivered meals, nutrition counseling, meal preparation, food budgeting, and commodity distribution.

One Stop Career Development Center
In one key location, persons have access to adult education, job training, case management, Transitional Employment Assistance, Social Security, legal aide, the Arkansas Employment Security Division and more!

Senior Adult Program
Senior Centers gives older adults support and encouragement to reach new levels of independence, fostering educational and emotional wellness for persons 60 and older. Activities include active exercise, social interaction, nutrition, transportation services, recreational events, book clubs, computer training, and more.

Single Parent Scholarships Will Help You Achieve Your Educational Goals
Single Parent Scholarship Fund
The Single Parent Scholarship Fund emphasizes education and skill development as key components of self-sufficiency. The program removes the barriers single parents face while attending school, providing for such things as transportation, child care, books and tuition expenses.

Summer Feeding Program
Low-income children and youth have access to well-balanced diets all the year through the Summer Feeding Program. The program targets children from low-income families, providing hot and nutritious meals during the summer months.

Transportation
CADC's Transportation Helps You Lead Happy, Independent Lives
Transportation
CADC focuses on helping persons achieve their individual levels of success, including access to safe and sound transportation.
The South Central Arkansas Transit (SCAT) and Greyhound programs are a highly visible and dependable means of transportation for persons at all levels. The Public Transportation program helps meet the daily transportation needs of our customers, at all levels. Through Medicaid transportation, eligible customers have access to transportation services for their non-emergency health care needs. In the Greyhound Bus Program, persons in rural, South Arkansas enjoy inter- and intra-state travel.
Whether it's a ride across town, to another city, or to visit a friend or the doctor, the Transportation Program helps thousands become self-sufficient every year.

Weatherization
Weatherization Impacts The Energy Efficiency Of Your Home
Weatherization
Through energy conservation measures, the Weatherization Programs seeks to make the homes of low-income families more energy efficient and comfortable. Conservation measures may include sealing, caulking, weatherstripping, and insulation. Health and safety checks are done on each home for carbon monoxide and gas leaks. Further health and safety measures include installation of carbon monoxide and smoke alarms.
